Harman is a brand that is everywhere but not everyone knows them. People know of the brands within the brand - JBL, AKG, Harman Kardon - but they only think of Harman as an audio brand. We needed to elevate them beyond audio and into technology yet still maintaining each brand's or product's voice. Through mainly digital and social means we were able to create some interesting and award winning work.
The Distortion of Sound
This was a 23-minute documentary that raises the questions, concerns and potential solutions around the topic of sound distortion caused by audio compression. What are we giving up for convenience and speed? The topic created some passionate dialogue with top engineers, producers and musicians like Quincy Jones, Hans Zimmer, Slash and Snoop Dogg. The film went on to win a Webby for Long Form Film, Best Documentary at the One Show's One Screen Festival and was shortlisted at Cannes. It aired on The Sundance Channel and IFC and had its premiere at the Grammy Museum in LA.
